What is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a whole view of the individual and their development from childhood through to adulthood. Psychodynamic therapy is insight-oriented, and client led to facilitate understanding of how present behaviour and mood are affected by our unconscious feelings and past experiences. Therapy facilitates increased self-awareness of these unconscious factors and how they reflect in our adult lives.

How I Work

The initial consult provides an opportunity to discuss what your presenting concern is and explore goals for therapy that are important to you. Therapy is a collaboration of both therapist and client where we can explore transference and countertransference, affect phobia, resistance and defences, and grow self-awareness and understanding in a non-judgmental, safe space that facilitates your healing.

My approach in therapy is to help clients work through early attachment wounds, grief, anxiety, trauma and depression through various modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion focused therapy, grief counselling, affect regulation and psychoeducation which enhances self-awareness and understanding of the physiological responses in your body.
