How do we manage anxiety?

Through exposure therapy we learn to engage with our anxiety rather than avoid the things that make us anxious. Ask yourself this question: "is this danger or discomfort?"

Trauma
Trauma is an overwhelming demand that is placed on the human system. Did you know that it is not the nature of the event but rather how the physiology of the body is overwhelmed by the event. Energy levels go up in situations of threat and there is a energetic charge experienced in the body. When this energy cannot be discharged it remains trapped and affects the nervous system, wreaking havoc on our bodies and spirit.

Trauma polarizes an individual leaving them to feel isolated, misunderstood and alone, often experiencing the world as unsafe.

Somatization
Somatization is experienced in the body. What we cannot articulate our bodies will do it for us through a variety of physical symptoms, disrupted sleep patterns, lack of appetite, IBS, migraines, tension ...
to name a few.

Ask yourself this: "What am I feeling right now?" Give that feeling a name.
